Lush: Products that Give Me Life

Anyone who knows me (or walks into our bathroom) knows that I am absolutely in love with Lush Cosmetics. Not only is the company environmentally and socially friendly, but there are tons of products to choose from. For those new to the brand, or maybe those who might want to try something different, I decided to compile a list of my personal favorites, complete with links. Another great thing about Lush is that they aren’t stingy with samples. They usually send a freebie in your package if you order online and if you shop in store, they will give usually give a sample or two of certain items if you request it. One thing that I like to do is to ask a Lush employee what their favorite product is and give it a try. I’ve discovered several of my favorite products this way.

Bath bombs are essentially the Lush gateway product that reels us into the brand. My first one was “Phoenix Rising” which was sadly discontinued a while back. They are all pretty awesome, but I’ve narrowed it down to 3 for this post. Surprisingly, I’ve never had a Lush bath bomb stain my tub, although depending on the bath bomb there might be glitter or debris left. My scent profile is on the fresh and clean side, so if you prefer something more fruity or floral, feel free to take a look at the many bath bombs that Lush has to offer.

This one is absolutely stunning! You get neon swirls in shades of blue, pink, and yellow when you toss it in. After the fizz settles you are left with a beautiful glittery blue bath. The scent is fresh and minty without smelling like toothpaste. Leaves you feeling calm and refreshed.

00052Another refreshing bath bomb. This one is a simple green color and smells like two of my all-time favorite scents: lemongrass and bergamot. They put avocados and olive oil in it which makes your skin feel great. Makes you feel perky and energized.

This is the bath bomb to go to when you want your skin to feel super soft and smooth. 00012

It smells gently of vanilla and has cocoa butter in it. This is the one I pop in when I’m shaving my legs or planning to wear a skirt or dress. It’s not visually pretty like some of the other bombs, but it leaves your skin feeling absolutely incredible.

06144Ever since I was introduced to Mr. Bubble as a small child, I’ve loved a good bubble bath. Lush bubble bars definitely deliver amazing bubbles. You simply crumble a little bit of the bubble bar under running tap water. Easy! Milky Bath has a light orange oil scent that just smells clean. It has cocoa butter, soy milk, and olive oil in it to make your skin feel soft. Just a little bit of product gets you a ton of frothy bubbles.

I generally go for shower gels instead of bar soaps, but this one is worth the switch. It has sand in it to polish and exfoliate your skin and has a wonderful citrus scent. I got this as a free sample in my last online purchase and fell in love with it.

05234_bI discovered this one in New Orleans at the Lush store on Royal Street about 2 years ago. One of the employees told me to give it a try and I’ve been buying it ever since. One of the great things about this product is that you can use it on both your body and your face. Leaves you feeling fresh and clean (Surprise!) with a vodka and lime scent that makes you wish you were on the beach.

00554Heads up: this one is now only available online. Honestly, I was genuinely skeptical about the shampoo bars at first, but they actually work really well and last for ages as long as you don’t leave them in the shower or sitting in water. I have really fine hair that gets oily pretty quickly and this shampoo bar leaves my hair feeling wonderfully light and clean. It smells like lavender and rosemary and doesn’t irritate my sensitive scalp.  Combined with the Veganese conditioner it makes an amazing combo.

Most conditioners make my hair feel oily or oddly heavy. Veganese is 00818the only conditioner that I’ve found that makes my hair feel light and healthy. It really is amazing. It smells like lavender, rosemary, and a hint of lemon but it reminds Johanna of sandalwood. It works with any of Lush’s shampoo or shampoo bars so give it a shot.

06854Sleepy has become a major favorite among Lush users. It’s a lotion that is meant to be applied right before bedtime. I find that it does help me sleep better and I also tend to have vivid dreams when I use it. It smells like lavender and tonka, but whenever I put it on Johanna says that I smell like cookies.

Charity Pot tends to be a great everyday body lotion as well, but I have sensitive skin and00031 eczema in some places, so I reach for Dream Cream instead. It is amazing if your skin just needs a little extra work from a lotion to combat dry or problem skin on your body. The fragrance is VERY light on this one. Johanna thinks it smells earthy and calming. I think it smells a bit like sunscreen.

As previously stated, these are my personal favorite products. What works for me might not work for you, but I promise you that Lush will have something that you absolutely will fall in love with. Have you tried any of these? What do you think? What is your favorite Lush product?

Feel free to let me know in the comments!
